Directly next door, there is another Price-designed single-family home for sale. This Forest Hills home has been on and off the market since November 2007, possibly because it floats.
If constructed, this will be the third shipping container residential development in Washington, D.C.

Once again, architect Travis Price is on the move to build housing in Washington, D.C. out of shipping containers. UrbanTurf reported that Hinds Development and Travis Price Architects plan on redeveloping a former Safeway store in Brookland for retail topped by shipping container condos. More recently, the site was used to house a medical building.

The site is located at 1201 Franklin Street NE. Currently, the site houses a 6,748-square-foot building. The project is slated to complete in 2017.

The first shipping container homes in Washington, D.C. were constructed in September 2014 at 3305 7th Street NE, in Brookland.
While all of these Washington, D.C. listings have their differences—a pool, floor-to-ceiling windows, levitation—one of the features that ties them together and should be celebrated is their visually stunning fireplace. When "The Christmas Song" was written, fireplaces such as these were probably imagined, the fire meant to roast some chestnuts on a fire. With $1,162 monthly HOA dues, it offers a sunken living room, sunroom, and patio.

↑ This $495,000 Woodley Park condo is the most affordable abode in this list, but don't let that cause you to underestimate it. Some of the bells and whistles attached to this two-bedroom, one-bathroom abode include its private outdoor space, garage parking, and built-in bookcases. Oh, and don't forget about that fireplace. Please, keep that wolf whistle to yourself.

↑ This six-bedroom, five-bathroom Georgetown townhome comes with smart glass, geo-thermal heating and cooling, and an ozone swimming pool. Other unique details include its glass elevator and built-in architectural antiques.

↑ In Wesley Heights, this four-level, $4.999 million single-family home has a lot to offer with over 26,000-square-feet and a covered porch. The fireplace, though, might be one of the biggest selling points. Seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms are inside.

↑ In September 2015, this four-bedroom, three-bathroom Capitol Hill asked $1.595 million. One month later, it got a price chop, dropping it to a very specific listing price of $1,594,777. The kitchen features a breakfast bar and island, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances.

↑ What's up with this fireplace? There's no certainty as to why one would want a visual reminder of death every time they snuggle up against the fire, but there's no reason to judge. This Tudor single-family home is located in Massachusetts Avenue Heights with five bedrooms and five-and-a-half bathrooms. It was first listed in May 2014 for $7.5 million, but dropped to $6.5 million in December 2015.

↑ Travis Price is known for his odd architecture and even stranger dreams. It's no surprise then that he would go so far as to design and build a floating home. This Forest Hills abode is suspended in mid-air, held up by steel columns and anchored by steel rods. It's been on the market since November 2007 and has gotten numerous price chops, dropping it from the original $3.45 million to the current $3.399 million. It comes with a total four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 3,500-square-feet of space.
· The 10 Most Gorgeous Private Libraries in the D.C.
There is less than a week left to vote on which Washington, D.C.-based architecture firms are the best of the best, so be sure to cast your vote asap. Hosted by the Washington, D.C. chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC), the 2015 Chapter Design People's Choice Award recognizes a variety of categories, including Urban Design and Master Planning, Historic Resources, Interior Architecture, and Architecture. There are a total 24 projects featured in the contest, which include Shalom Baranes Associates with City Market at O, Gensler with the Washington 2024 Olympic bid master plan, Travis Price Architects with The Crossing, and Studio 27 Architecture and LEO A DALY with La Casa. The purpose of the award is to raise awareness of the architectural talent found here in the District, according to Bisnow. By promoting local talent, there is hope that more out-of-town developers will rely on local firms for design work in Washington, D.C.

Travis Price is an award-winning architect who is a member of the American Institute of Architects and is a visiting lecturer and adjunct professor at Pratt Institute, Princeton University, Yale University, and more. Price pushes the boundaries of architectural design with shipping container housing in Rosedale and Brookland, a floating home in Forest Hills, and this zig-zagging single-family home in McLean, Virginia. With swooping, jagged lines, this abode is on the market for $1,249,000 with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, and 3,832-square-feet of space. Throughout the single-family home, you can find floor-to-ceiling windows, causing the listing to be drenched in sunlight. One of the many wow factors to this listing is its indoor lap pool, which the listing describes as the focal point to the home.
