Mapping 20+ Transformative NoMa Development Projects

View as Map

With each passing month, plans for new developments in the Northeast neighborhood NoMa multiply, so to keep up with all the construction either planned or underway, Curbed has created the below map to let you know what you should expect.

The neighborhood, named after "North of Massachusetts Avenue," didn't have much of an identity before the late 1990s. Before then, the desolate area was mostly known as simply the site of the Greyhound station. Now, the community is bustling and hip with a Harris Teeter, 18 blocks of free outdoor Wi-Fi, and of course Union Market.

Currently, there are more than 3,900 apartments in the area and over 7,000 residential units either planned or currently under construction. Tony Goodman, advisory neighborhood commissioner for near northeast and NoMa, believes that NoMa will eventually skyrocket to housing over 15,000 residents.

In the below map, you can expect to find a few developments around Union Market, which include the massive mixed-use project, The Shapiro Residences, and the New York-inspired residential building, The Highline at Union Market.

If any developments were left off of this map, be sure to let Curbed know by leaving a comment or emailing our tipline. If interested in seeing what to expect from other Washington, D.C. neighborhoods that are going through similar development booms, check out these maps of H Street Corridor and Navy Yard.
