10 D.C. hotels near the Inauguration worth booking

Washington, D.C. may not have the Super Bowl this year, but it does have one other event that is sure to bring in plenty of crowds: The Inauguration.

In preparation for this momentous (and contentious) event, Curbed has put together a list of 10 hotels near the U.S. Capitol that may still have some rooms available. With such close locations to the site, be sure to expect pricey fares. You've been warned.

The hotels have been mapped geographically, from the most Northwest to the most Southeast.

This upscale landmark hotel is one of the furthest hotels away from the U.S. Capitol, but it's within walking distance if you have some comfy shoes. Constructed in 1925, the Mayflower Hotel offers 571 guestrooms with modern finishes and amenities that include a beauty shop, fitness center, and a pet-friendly location.

Next on the list is this hotel, located only a few blocks away from the U.S. Capitol. While not next door to the Inauguration, it's still worth a look for its 335 guestrooms, fitness center, business center, and over 22,000 square feet of event space. There is also an on-site French bistro called Café Du Parc as well as a steak and seafood restaurant called Occidental Grill & Seafood.

This might not be the most popular choice on this list, but it's still a hotel within walking distance of the U.S. Capitol, so it's worth mentioning. This luxury 263-room hotel boasts a 13,2000-square-foot, three-room Presidential Ballroom as well as multiple restaurants and retail options. There is also valet parking.
