Here Are The Ten Cheapest Places On The Market In Shaw

View as Map

Shaw has made quite the transformation in the last decade (or even the last five years) into a highly desirable neighborhood. As such, about half of the most inexpensive properties in this neighborhood aren't terribly inexpensive. Also, there are a few that kind of push the neighborhood borders, veering into Mt. Vernon Triangle and Logan Circle territory. However, there are still a few spots that are asking under $500K and there are even a few townhouses available for less than some neighboring condos. Take a look at the map of these (relatively) cheap places after the jump.

One Bedroom Apartment

Asking price: $299,000
Size: 1-bed, 1-bath apartment, 550 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $544
The skinny: The three available one bedroom apartments in this building are the cheapest on the market, with this one being the only thing in Shaw to ask under $300K. It's a cozy spot but not shabby or gross.

One Bedroom Condo

Asking price: $359,555
Size: 1-bed, 1-bath condo, 750 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $479
The skinny: You may recall this place as one of the entrants from this week's Real Estate Death Match. Vote in that, won't you?

One Bedroom Condo

Asking price: $369,000
Size: 1-bed, 1-bath condo, 550 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $671
The skinny: This is one of those Shaw apartments that's really borderline Logan Circle. But if this pet-friendly condo gets too cozy for you and your furry friend, the building has a nice roof deck.

Two Bedroom Condo

Asking price: $449,900
Size: 2-bed, 2.5-bath condo, 1,034 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $435
The skinny: My how the prices jump quickly once those one bedroom condos become two bedroom condos. This place is narrow, but it's got off street parking.

Two Bedroom Condo at M Street Flats

Asking price: $485,000
Size: 2-bed, 1-bath condo, 990 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $490
The skinny: Meanwhile, this pretty two bedroom is one of several condos that's borderline Mt. Vernon Triangle. M Street Flats was completed in 2010, so all of the appliances are pretty new.

Two Bedroom Townhouse

Asking price: $585,000
Size: 2-bed, 1.5-bath townhouse, 1,100 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $532
The skinny: This townhouse isn't much of a stunner from the outside which might explain the recent price chop. However, it's the cheapest townhouse in Shaw and there's included parking.

Two Bedroom Condo

Asking price: $695,000
Size: 2-bed, 2-bath condo, 1,420 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $489
The skinny: This renovation is being advertised as the penthouse unit, but as this is a conversion, that likely just means "top floor" and not "extra goodies." That said, there is a jacuzzi, skylights and a fireplace.

Three Bedroom Townhouse

Asking price: $729,900
Size: 3-bed, 2-bath townhouse, 1,386 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $527
The skinny: It's hard to give this one (or anything afterwards) the "inexpensive" tag, but for a three bedroom home, it's not too bad.

Two Bedroom Townhouse

Asking price: $799,000
Size: 2-bed, 2.5-bath townhouse, 1,662 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $481
The skinny: A short property next to a taller one always looks like kind of a bad joke, but at the end of the day, this is still a corner house with some semblance of a yard (that's currently home to an adorable doggie.) There are also multiple fireplaces.

Two Bedroom Condo

Asking price: $869,999
Size: 2-bed, 2.5-bath condo, 1,834 square feet
Dollars Per Square Foot: $474
The skinny: Look on the bright side, when looking at price per square foot, this condo actually stands on par with everything else on this list. Yeah, it's only a two bedroom, but it's enormous. Also, there's a gazebo in the yard.
