Last year, 17 major properties and 3,562 new apartments were added to Washington, D.C.'s inventory, transforming vacant areas in the District into bustling residential areas. Just recently, RENTCafé listed the top 10 largest apartment projects completed in Washington, D.C. this past year, from The Drake to The Shay to Fort Totten Square. With their findings, they reported that this past year's growth of apartments wasn't as large as the previous year's growth. While there were fewer apartment complexes built in 2014—13 to be exact—3,681 units were added to the inventory.
