First it was government shutdown that shuttered the Smithsonian National Zoo, but now it’s the weather. On Friday morning, the zoo announced on Twitter that it would close at 10 a.m.
Due to the ❄️ snowy inclement weather, the Zoo will close today (Feb. 1) at 10 a.m. Stay safe and warm!

The zoo reopened on a regular basis last Tuesday, following the temporary resolution of the partial federal government shutdown, which damaged the local economy through reduced tourism and business. Today, about an inch of snow is expected, per the Washington Post.
