One of the most coveted spots in town to watch Fourth of July fireworks is getting a makeover. The W Washington DC just announced a $50 million renovation for 2019 that will span from the hotel’s 317 rooms to its POV Rooftop. Achitecture and interior design firm Studio GAIA is handling the project alongside the W brand’s award-winning design team.
The POV rooftop’s new design will be inspired by D.C.’s Brutalist buildings and the Metro, creating an indoor-outdoor space with accordion style windows that open to those amazing views. The guest rooms’ new decor will also be D.C. inspired, with references to local history and even a Washington Monument-inspired minibar. The hotel’s lobby level Living Room will include fresco art inspired by the Capitol dome. Check it all out in renderings of the new designs.
