Remember the Capitals’ Stanley Cup win every time you scan your Metro card: WMATA made a commemorative SmarTrip with a special design in honor of the championship, to bring a little joy to your commute.
It’s the first time a commemorative SmarTrip card has marked the occasion of a D.C. sports championship, according to DCist, and people are loving these cards. WMATA tweeted that 20,000 cards have been sold so far. The cards are the same cost as the standard SmarTrip, ringing in at $10 with $8 in Metro fare value plus $2 for the cost of the card. Score a card here on WMATA’s site.
