A section of the Armed Forces Retirement Home’s bucolic 272-acre property in Northwest Washington, D.C. may one day become a new mixed-use development. UrbanTurf reported that General Services Administration (GSA) put out a proposal last week for 80 acres of the Armed Forces Retirement Home campus.
GSA put out a plan for developers that included 2.2 million square feet of new residential development and 1.19 million square feet of office space, as well as space for retail, assisted-living, medical, hotel, and parking. Developers are asked to incorporate both historic buildings and the Old Soldier’s Home Golf Course into their campus plan. Proposals are due September 28.
