A storm with wind gusts from 60 to 75 mph might hit during rush hour tonight

A severe thunderstorm watch is on for the Washington area

Beware, commuters. A severe thunderstorm with wind gusts of up to 75 mph might possibly hit the Washington area right in the teeth of rush hour. The Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang projects that the “most likely timing” for storms is 6 to 8 p.m. The weather team thinks this storm could fall under the category of a derecho, which means damaging winds.

Be careful out there on the roads and outside, look for a flashlight, and charge those devices.
