In Alexandria, Virginia, a brand new Landmark Mall is on the way, soon to transform into an open-air urban village with 400 new residences, plazas, retail, restaurants, a movie theater, and, as recently announced by Washington Business Journal, a homeless shelter. Alexandria’s Carpenter’s Shelter has confirmed that it will relocate into the temporary space inside the former Macy’s this spring.
The shelter serves more than 600 homeless and formerly homeless persons every year. The shelter will return to its existing space at 930 N. Henry Street in Alexandria, Virginia, once a two-year, $40 million renovation is complete on the building.
