Out of every major metropolitan area in the country, Washington, D.C., ranks as having the sixth most construction cranes, according to the latest Crane Index from Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB). Seattle topped the list with 45 cranes, while D.C. had 27, above San Francisco’s 26 and New York’s 18. Compared from this time last year, D.C. has the same number of cranes, though not necessarily in the same locations.
This data from RLB does not factor in cranes that may be coming down shortly or new cranes going up after the data is collected. The data was collected in November 2017. The report also only factors in tower cranes typically used for tall buildings. Below, take a look at which locations in D.C. proper have the most cranes, according to RLB.
