Once again, the annual Home + Remodeling Show is set to be a popular attraction at Chantilly, Virginia’s Dulles Expo Center. On January 19 through 21, the event will feature HGTV’s Kitchen Cousins hosts Anthony Carrino and John Colaneri along with interior design firm Madcap Cottage founders John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon.
The approximately 12-year-old Madcap Cottage is known for their use of vibrant prints, patterns, and textures, and that is exactly what the duo will focus on in their panel. Unsurprisingly, Nixon believes that maximalism and chintz will be some of the big design trends to look forward to in 2018.
When it comes to some common mistakes home renovators make, Nixon told Curbed DC, “I think people don’t go too far. I think they kind of dip their toe in the pattern pool rather than go big and bold ... Go bigger and go bolder rather than tiptoe into it.”

Along with these headliners, more than 300 companies will showcase their products and services in home remodeling and renovation. The three-day event will also include a 1,400-square-foot custom-designed home built on the show floor, furnished with the year’s latest design trends. Guests can also expect a “Make It, Take It” design center, which will offer a workshop sponsored by Stylish Patina on chalk paint.
For kid-friendly fun, visitors will also get to experience the “Family Zone” with face painting, a selfie station, and an obstacle course.
Ticket prices for the Home + Remodeling Show range from $9 for adult online admission, $12 for box office adult admission, $3 for children between the ages of 6 and 12, and free for children under the age of 6.
