Capitol Hill’s former Hine School reveals photos for residential units

What was once the Hine Junior High School is now The Residences at Eastern Market. After years of planning and construction, developers Eastbanc and Stanton Development expect the completion of their three-building mixed-use project to complete by the end of the year with move-ins begun in October.

There’s a lot to expect when it comes to the project, both inside and out. When it comes to the units, there will be a total of 128. So far, the building is 3 percent leased.

Inside each kitchen, there will be a pullout pantry, stainless steel appliances, and integrated trash drawers. There will also be sleek, modern white cabinetry and a gas range. The units will feature walk-in showers and laundry rooms. Some of the units will have terraces and balconies.

A few of the retailers that will come to the development are JRINK, Trickling Springs Creamery, District Vet, and a Trader Joe’s. A preschool will also be located in the development.

There will be a total of 61,000 square feet of retail and 156,000 square feet of office space offered as well as an outdoor plaza located on the 300 block of 7th Street SE for Eastern Market’s flea market. A total of 320 parking spaces will be offered.

When it comes to the amenities residents can expect, there will be two lobbies, a fitness center, rooftop swimming pool, and over one acre of green roof. Other amenities to look forward to include a private courtyard, a “library lounge,” and a multi-purpose room that is expected to be used for yoga or art classes and kid-friendly activities.

Prices are expected to range from around $3,500 to the $9,000s.

The Hine School redevelopment is expected to achieve LEED Gold and Silver certifications. The project was originally set to deliver by June of 2017.
