Only a block away from the L’Enfant Plaza Metro station and a couple blocks from the Federal Center SW Metro station, there are plans for a brand new 252-room hotel, called citizenM. With a delivery slated for 2020, this will be the Netherlands-based hotel company’s first location in Washington, D.C.

The location will be at 555 E Street SW in a new mixed-use development planned by a partnership with E Street Development Group LLC, CityPartners, and Potomac Investment Properties. According to a press release, the property will feature two towers, one which will house citizenM and one which will house 194 apartments atop ground-floor retail.

The press release does not confirm the price range for the hotel rooms or the apartments, but they are expected to be at “affordable price points.”

The company also plans on continuing its expansion in the U.S. to Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Seattle. CitizenM’s first U.S. hotel opened in 2014 in New York’s Times Square.

Some of the amenities that will come with the hotel include complimentary use of Apple iMac computers, a fitness area, yoga studio, and a rooftop space. The project is expected to achieve LEED Gold certification.

According to the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, the site formerly housed the old Engine Company 13.

According to a Bisnow article published August 2015, the project entails 193,000 square feet of residential space, 15,000 square feet of retail space, and 89,000 square feet of hotel space. Since publication, this information is no longer correct. Instead, there will be 195,946 square feet of residential space, 10,474 of retail space, and 99,030 square feet of hotel space.
