College Park’s new hotel opens with four restaurants, complimentary Wi-Fi

Expect over 40,000 square feet of event space, a rooftop deck, and a “wellness garden”

For the first time since 1963, College Park, Maryland, has a brand new hotel. First reported by Washington Business Journal, The Hotel at the University of Maryland opened this past Friday with the goal to achieve at least 80 percent occupancy in a matter of three years.

There are a total of 297 rooms and 29 suites in the hotel as well as four restaurants: Kapnos Taverna, Old Maryland Grill, Potomac Pizza, and Bagels ‘N Grinds. There is also a bar in the lobby.

The $189 million hotel features 43,000 square feet of event space, including multiple board rooms as well as ballrooms, which can host up to 750 guests. Some of the amenities include an indoor pool, “wellness garden,” fitness studio, spa, and a 24-hour business center. There is also a rooftop deck and three outdoor terraces.

Each room is equipped with mini fridges, 40-inch televisions, complimentary Wi-Fi, and personal safes.
