After 18 years in Baltimore, Maryland, the three-day anime convention, known as Otakon, moved to Washington, D.C. this past weekend. Over the course of the event, visitors brought not only their love of Japanese animation and comics, but their costume-making skills as well.
From Pokémon to Naruto to The Emperor’s New Groove, the event allowed fans as well as passersby the opportunity to meet their favorite fictional characters in person.
The event brought 20,000 visitors per day and an expected visitor spend of nearly $30 million from the event, according to the Washington Business Journal.
