Expect Buzzard Point to get much denser over the coming years with a new stadium planned, a brand new block-long, mixed-use project, and a big redesign for the existing Buzzard Point Park.

PoPville reported that the National Park Service (NPS) released two final concept plans for the three-and-a-half acre park, both of which incorporate the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail into the designs.

The first concept (seen above), will allow a trail to follow the shoreline and be surrounded by landscape features, while the second concept (seen below), allows the trail to be above the river on an elevated structure. There will also be a pedestrian promenade, a kayak launch, open lawn areas, and restrooms.

Before the NPS can begin any construction, the will need to conduct an Environmental Assessment as well as public engagement and agency coordination.
