It was in 1876 when prominent military surveyor John Wyess finished construction on a 14-foot rowhouse in Mt. Vernon Triangle. Still today, the image of a “W” remains on the structure’s pediment. In a nearby alley, German immigrant William Beuchert constructed a blacksmith shop in 1912, then an auto repair shop in a two-story warehouse a few years later.

Recently, a developer completed the integration of these three historic structures in order to create one luxury apartment building, called 455 Eye Street. This 174-unit property began welcoming its first residents on June 1 with a myriad of amenities on hand. A new 2,000-square-foot restaurant, called Prather’s on the Alley, will also open in late 2017.

Some of the amenities to look forward to include a fitness center, 24-hour concierge, free Wi-Fi in common areas, and a rooftop deck with a pool. There will also be a courtyard, a bike room with over 50 spaces, and a Dero repair stand.

The units, themselves, also have a lot to offer, from quartz countertops to glass tile backsplashes to exposed brick accent walls. The units are pet-friendly and also offer washers and dryers.

Rents start from $2,045 per month for studios, $2,290 per month for one-bedrooms, and $3,575 per month for two-bedrooms.
