Crystal City is getting its first movie theater, and not just any movie theater—the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. Washington Business Journal reported that developer JBG Smith was able to nab the cinema company as an anchor tenant for their planned mixed-use complex located at 1750 Crystal Drive.

The 12-story building currently on the site will get a six-story addition and will be converted to residential space with retail and a new Metro station pavilion. There will be a total of 650 residential units and 120,000 square feet of retail. Once the construction is complete, the facade will be glassier and with metal panels, and the address will switch to 1770 Crystal Drive.

This development is part of a three-phase project that will also create over 3,300 residential units and 110,000 square feet of retail at 1900 Crystal Drive, 223 23rd Street, and 2001 Jefferson Davis Highway East and West, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Other future Alamo Drafthouse Cinema locations to expect include one in Woodbridge at the Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center and one on Rhode Island Avenue NE at MRP Realty’s Bryant Street project.
