Union Market owner requests two-year extension for planned addition to building

The extension may also bring changes to the design of the addition

EDENS, the owner of the Union Market building located at 1309 5th Street NE, is asking for a two-year extension for a proposal approved over two years ago, reports UrbanTurf. The proposal called for an office and residential addition above the existing market as well as a large, permanent home for the Angelika Film Center.

With this extension, EDENS may change the uses of both plans and deliver the project sooner than expected.

UrbanTurf reported that some of the reasons why EDENS is requesting an extension is due to the lack of a lender to finance the development and “not having secured a developer in a timely manner.”
