There are plans to totally revamp the Market Common in Clarendon. According to ARLnow, these plans include widened sidewalks, an increase in new restaurants and retail in the central median of the shopping center, and a small park with a fountain and benches.

The purpose of redeveloping the courtyard, known as “The Loop,” is to create a “gathering space for the local community,” according to a spokesman for developer Regency Centers.

Along with redeveloping the courtyard, Regency Centers also plans on redeveloping a group of buildings along the 2800 blocks of Clarendon and Wilson boulevards. ARLnow reported that the renovation would add a fourth floor and approximately 26,784 square feet of additional space to one of the office buildings.

The site plan is in the preliminary review stage. There are no reports yet of the estimated delivery date.
