In North Bethesda, the Metro’s board of directors are considering making improvements to the Grosvenor-Strathmore station. Bethesda Magazine reported that the improvements may make way for a new redevelopment project and retail stands that will serve food and drinks.

Headed by developer Fivesquares, the mixed-use project would feature retail on the station’s existing surface parking lot as well as residential units. The exact number of residential units has not yet been set.

An additional 412 parking spaces would be added to the existing parking garage at the station. There are also plans for adding art to the station’s entrances.

In two weeks, the proposal is expected to go to the full Metro board.
