John McLaughlin’s D.C. home finds a buyer for $2.6M

John McLaughlin, the late conservative political commentator best known for his eponymous TV show, lived in this Massachusetts Avenue Heights single-family home for approximately 30 years. It recently sold for $2,625,000, above its original ask at $2,495,000.

According to the Washington Business Journal, the property was built in 1955, expanded in the 1980s, and renovated in 2010. It features four bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms across 5,705 square feet of space. The two-story property also offers a library, fireplace, two terraces, and a two-car garage.

McLaughlin’s syndicated TV show, “The McLaughlin Group,” aired on CBS from 1982 through 2016, focused on political topics.

Other notable celebrity homes in the same neighborhood as this property include BET CEO Debra Lee’s $11.5 million mansion, the Kingdom of Morocco’s $14 million single-family home, and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin’s $12,585,000 estate.

Melanie Hayes and Michael Rankin of TTR Sotheby’s International Realty brokered the sale. According to a press release, the firm’s co-founder and managing partner, Jonathan Taylor, brought the buyer.
