Arlington’s Fairlington Park to remove amphitheater, add playground

There will also be new outdoor fitness equipment and ADA accessibility improvements

Renovations to Arlington, Virginia’s Fairlington Park began in 2010 with the final phase now approved by the Arlington County Board. ARLnow reports that the park, located at 3308 S. Stafford Street, will experience a myriad of changes that will result in the athletic field being closed during construction.

One of the biggest changes to the park is the replacement of the amphitheater with a playground for children in the 2 to 5 and 5 to 12 age range. ARLnow further reports that the park will also get new outdoor fitness equipment, a picnic area, furniture, and landscaping. ADA accessibility will also be improved with further improvements to drainage and stormwater management.
