Coworking spaces continue to proliferate in Washington, D.C., with plans for a new MakeOffices location at The Wharf. The location is expected to open by January 2018.

In the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood, the new MakeOffices site will occupy the entire second and third floors of 800 Maine, a 220,000-square-foot, 11-story office building at the corner of 9th Street SW and Maine Avenue SW. The entire space will span 43,880 square feet.

With waterfront views of the Potomac River, this new coworking location will feature 99 total offices along with amenities like conference rooms, private phone booths and rooms, a recording room, and a kitchen. There will also be a “relaxation room” with massage chairs, a “wellness room,” and unlimited craft beer on tap. Wi-Fi is included.

The prices for MakeOffices range from $700 per month for a one-person office up to $14,400 per month for an 18-person office. A dedicated desk costs $450 per month.

Designing this new space is Gensler, a Washington, D.C.-based design firm that is ranked as one of the top 25 largest U.S. law firms and one of the top 10 retailers in the U.S., according to the firm's fact sheet.

Some of the projects Gensler has worked on in the past include the 632-meter Shanghai Tower in China, the five-story McCann New York headquarters, and the third phase of the extension to Kuwait's Avenues shopping district.
