Rockville-based Choice Hotels plans on opening a brand new, 170-room hotel in Alexandria, Virginia’s Potomac Yard. The location would be at the corner of U.S. Route 1 and East Glebe Road, near the site of the planned Potomac Yard Metro station, which is expected to open by 2021.

Already, there is a Cambria Hotel & Suites in Washington, D.C., near the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, and there are two Cambria Hotels in Maryland, but this will be the first Cambria brand in Northern Virginia, according to Bisnow.

The Northern Virginia hotel is expected to offer seven stories, underground parking, and approximately 4,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, as reported by Washington Business Journal. The project will also connect a Target parking lot with Glebe Road via Main Line Boulevard.

There have yet to be any reports on who the development partner will be or what the timeline is for the project.
