Target currently has only one location in Washington, D.C., more specifically in the Columbia Heights neighborhood, but there are plans to expand to another location in the city, as reported by Washington Business Journal. Target hopes to open a small-format store in Cleveland Park, replacing a Petco in the Sam’s Park & Shop strip shopping center at 3505 Connecticut Avenue NW.
According to an unnamed source in the Washington Business Journal article, the new Target store will take up approximately 17,820 square feet with additional space in the site’s lower level.
The first small-format Target store to open in the region was in College Park, Maryland, in 2015 with another one in Rosslyn, Virginia, opening that very same year. In early 2017, a small-format Target opened in Bethesda, Maryland, and there are additional plans to open another location in Ballston, Virginia.
There is no set timeline yet for the Cleveland Park project.
