Alexandria, Virginia, already has a Wegmans at 7905 Hilltop Village Center Drive, but soon it will get another new Wegmans at the corner of Stovall and Mandeville streets. In July 2017, Curbed DC reported on the rumors of the grocer expanding, and Washington Business Journal has now confirmed that the grocer will open an 84,000-square-foot store at Hoffman Town Center.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2019 with a delivery by 2021. According to the Washington Business Journal, this store will be smaller than a typical Wegmans, which can reach 140,000 square feet, and this will be Wegmans’ first location that only inhabits a building’s second floor.
The rest of the building will offer 775,000 square feet of residential space (130 condos, 400 apartments, and 200 senior units) as well as 60,000 square feet for fitness or entertainment purposes. On the street level, there will be another retailer, which has not yet been chosen.
