At the moment, in Deanwood, the site at 5110-5140 Nannie Helen Burroughs Avenue NE houses a baptist church and a four-story office building. Soon, though, the land may be redeveloped for over 180 residences and retail.
UrbanTurf reported that there are plans to construct two buildings, a 65-foot-tall building with 151 units above 10,000 square feet of ground-floor retail and a 63-foot-tall building with 32 units above 6,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.
61 residential units will be replacement units for the Lincoln Heights/Richardson Dwellings. 104 units will also be designated for affordable housing for households making up to 60 percent of the area median income. Both buildings will have a mix of one-bedrooms up to five-bedrooms, as reported by UrbanTurf.
Expect 143 parking spaces and 52 bicycle spaces with amenities like a fitness center and kids’ playroom.
The developer behind the project is The Warrenton Group with the architecture firm being Torti Gallas Urban.
Across from the site is the Strand Theater, which is also expected to be renovated with the adjacent building redeveloped for 1,389 square feet of ground-floor retail and 1,233 square feet of community space topped by a six-story, 86-unit apartment building.
