Instagram has totally changed how people view food, artistic events, and now Union Market. Union Market recently debuted a brand new mural by Yoko Ono, and now a new mural from Instagram has been painted on its exterior.
This “#KindComments” mural was designed by artist Dallas Clayton with the hope to foster positive engagement online. Other “KindComments” murals are being installed in cities that include Dallas, Chicago, Tokyo, Brasilia, and Mumbai. Washingtonian reported that D.C. is one of four U.S. locations selected.
As part of this positive-focused campaign, Union Market allowed passersby to leave compliments and kind thoughts on chalkboards near the front entrance. Some of these messages were incorporated into Union Market’s new mural, including, “Keep Going, You’re Great.”
As part of the opening event for the mural, there will also be three D.C.-based teenage girls honored. Each of them have established their own businesses on Instagram, and each of them will be paired with an established small business in the same field who will mentor them.
