Last year, the D.C. Zoning Commission approved developer Ditto Residential’s plans for Watkins Alley, a Hill East area that is currently more industrial than residential. Washington Business Journal reported that Ditto has decided to join OPaL LLC on the project.

On a historic alley at 1309-1323 E Street SE and 516 13th Street SE, the project involves constructing 44 residential units, 29 of which will be townhouse condos and 15 of which will be flats. Washington Business Journal reported that the townhouses will not look like glassy boxes, but instead vintage and industrial.

The project will replace an automobile service center, a warehouse, and surface parking, reported Washington Business Journal. The Watkins Alley redevelopment is expected to begin in early 2018.
