On January 20, the day of President Donald Trump’s Inauguration, WMATA published a tweet that proved what everyone was thinking: Trump’s Inauguration was a fairly empty one.
Vox later published an article, comparing the crowds from Barack Obama’s 2009 Inauguration to Trump’s recent one, and it was apparent that the "unbelievable, perhaps record-setting turnout” that Trump had promised was fairly underwhelming.
To see WMATA’s tweet, look below.
Metro Ridership: As of 11am, 193k trips taken so far today. (11am 1/20/13 = 317k, 11am 1/20/09 = 513k, 11am 1/20/05 = 197k) #wmata

Approximately 20 minutes later, WMATA corrected the tweet saying that the 317,000 figure was from January 21, 2013. No numbers are available for any years before 2005.
