There are plans for Crystal City to have its first multiplex as well as an additional 200,000 square feet of retail developed by Vornado Realty Trust.
Washington Business Journal reported that the developer plans on overhauling Crystal City’s Shops at 1750 with a new retail space, 12-screen multiplex, and approximately 31,000-square-foot retail building. If Vornado’s plans are approved by Arlington County, the developer will redesign the Shops at 1750 with an atrium, skylights, and a glass facade. There are also plans for a block-long, 70,000-square-foot plaza along 18th Street South.
Vornado also submitted a second proposal for a pair of retail pavilions at 2101 and 2201 Crystal Drive, located a quarter mile south, according to the Washington Business Journal. The 34,000 square feet of retail will take over a space between a trio of office buildings.
The overhauled property at 1770 Crystal Drive is expected to deliver by 2017.
