The time has come once again for architects, designers, students, and interns to test their skills in the second annual RE-Form Design Competition, hosted by the Emerging Architects Committee of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA l DC).
Sponsored by Price Modern, the competition is meant for designers in a myriad of disciplines to come together with the mission to propose "an innovative skin." According to the submission guidelines, this "skin" can be any size and shape as well as serve any function.
Some of the requirements for submissions include: they cannot have any marks (e.g., logos, text) that can be used to identify the submission’s author, they cannot have been published in any competition publication, and they cannot have been selected as finalist, winner, or honorable mention in any other competition.
The proposals will be judged on concept, innovation, transcendence, social relevance, manufacturability, graphic quality, and compliance with all submission requirements.
Registration fees range from $25 for students and associate AIA members to $40 for professionals.
The awards will include a $1,000 cash prize, tour of a furniture designer’s studio, and select furniture pieces.
To submit, the deadline is 11:59 p.m. on October 21. The winners won’t be announced until November 7 at the District Architecture Center.
