RFP deadline for MLK Gateway extended

The new deadline is now October 17

In Anacostia, developers have the opportunity to redevelop two sites on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE and Good Hope Road SE for small to medium scaled commercial and mixed-use developments. Just recently, the D.C. Department of Housing & Community Development extended the deadline for the Request for Proposals (RFP) to October 17. The previous deadline was August 26.

The sites, known as MLK Gateway, are zoned C-3-A and are located in the Anacostia Historic District, so developers will need to get approval from the Historic Preservation Review Board for their project.

Currently, the vacant parcel at 1909 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE and the vacant lot and storefronts at 1201-1215 Good Hope Road SE house four vacant buildings.

Across the street from the Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE site will eventually be a Busboys & Poets as well as the new headquarters of the Far Southeast Family Support Collaborative. A new Walgreens Pharmacy will also appear on the same corner. Half a mile away is the Anacostia Metro station.

The D.C. government will only accept proposals that utilize both sites on Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE and Good Hope Road SE.

For more information, see this RFP.
