DesignDC’s Keynote Speaker Will Be Gabe Klein

Klein is a former government official, entrepreneur, and author

On August 24, the Washington, D.C. chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA|DC) will unveil DesignDC, the premier three-day regional conference focused on architects, engineers, developers, and planners.

To top off the educational sessions and trade show exhibits, there will be a keynote session from Gabe Klein, an entrepreneur, former government official, and recent author of "Start-Up City: Inspiring Private and Public Entrepreneurship, Getting Projects Done, and Having Fun."

He has a background as the co-founder of the first all-natural multi-unit food truck company, former Vice President of Zipcar, and former Director of the District Department of Transportation under Mayor Adrian M. Fenty. He is also credited for launching Capital Bikeshare, the first large-scale bikeshare system in the nation.

In his session, Klein will discuss which new technologies and business models are making cities easier to navigate.
