In April 2016, Georgetown’s Taft Mansion sold for $6 million, half a million less than what it asked for when it landed on the market in January 2016. UrbanTurf reported that it’s now returned to the market and is being listed privately for $13,995,000, making it the most expensive home currently for sale in Washington, D.C.
According to the Washington Fine Properties listing, the home is being "re-imagined" by Master Builder John McAlpine and designed by AIA-award-winning architect Christian Zapatka. For more information on the residence’s history, go to this Curbed article here.
The second most expensive listing on the market is a Georgetown duplex condo located in the Residences at the Ritz-Carlton. If it sells for the current asking price of $13.95 million, it will break the District’s record for most expensive condo ever sold. The current record is $7.295 million, which was set in 2009.
