While there are plenty of public pools to splash in, what better way to enjoy the summer than from the comforts of one’s own home? Below, Curbed has compiled five listings currently on the Washington, D.C. market, each with their own pool and or hot tub. These residences range from a roughly 140-year-old former factory to a $12 million mansion with a movie theater.
↑ In Capitol Hill, this c. 1877-built was originally constructed to serve as a stable. Later, the property served as an organ factory for 60 years, powered by a gasoline engine. Around 1963, Capitol Hill developer William Richards and architects Huff and Drayton converted the property into a two-bedroom residence. It still retains much of its original details, including its exposed brick walls and beamed ceilings. Now, it’s on the market for $2.3 million.
↑ For $4,995,000, homebuyers are able to take a splash in this Berkley listing’s heated saltwater pool. With seven bedrooms, this custom built home offers other desirable features like a two-car garage, an expansive yard, and crown molding. There are also design highlights like beamed ceilings, recessed lighting, and a laundry room. Throughout, there are a variety of rooms with wallpaper designs like damask and toile that help the rooms pop.
↑ This American University Park home first landed on the market in June 2016 for $1.295 million. Since then, there has been a $100,000 chop to its price. Along with the lower price, other features that may help this home sell include its covered front porch, finished lower level rec room, and close location to the nearest Metro. In the backyard, there is also a spacious pool with a hot tub.
↑ This $12 million mansion has it all. From a movie theater to a library to staff quarters, this Massachusetts Avenue Heights listing runneth over with luxurious add-ons. Along with a pool, this home also comes with marble terraces with views of Rock Creek Park. It is currently the home of entrepreneur, philanthropist, and "Patron of Diplomacy" Adrienne Arsht. Arsht often hosts diplomats, politicians, and entertainers, one of which was the former prime minister of Spain José María Aznar.
↑ Last but not least on the list is this Wesley Heights single-family home. It offers six bedrooms, landscaped gardens, and a big pool seen in the above photo. From the kitchen, it opens up to a breakfast room and the garden. There are window seats, paneled walls, and multiple fireplaces throughout. The asking price totals $2,695,000.
