On June 22, Minneapolis-based non-profit Artspace will host an info session with the hopes to meet potential tenants for the planned mixed-use development at 801 Sligo Avenue in Silver Spring. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. and will be held at the Silver Spring Civic Building at 1 Veterans Place.
Bethesda Magazine reported that the plans are to redevelop the former 3rd District police station into 30 artist studios, 11 townhomes, 68 affordable apartments, and 1,500 square feet of retail. Construction is expected to begin May 2017 with a delivery by September 2018, according to Bethesda Magazine.
The police station is currently vacant and is zoned for residential use. The new 3rd District police station opened June 2014, reported Bethesda Magazine.
