25-Acre Alexandria Site May House New 600-Unit Mixed-Use Project

The concept design includes space for hotel, retail, and office use

Pepco currently owns a 25.4-acre riverfront property in Alexandria, but the company is set on selling the site, reported Bisnow. One of the parcels spans 20 acres and houses a shut-down power plant. The second parcel spans 5.78 acres and has a switching yard and parking lot. According to Washington Business Journal, the switching yard will remain operational.

NRG Energy is expected to purchase the site at 1300 N. Royal Street. One plan for the site is a mixed-use development with 600 residential units, 125 hotel rooms, and 105,000 square feet of retail. There will also be 99,000 square feet of office space. Bisnow further reported that NRG may construct 75,000 square feet of energy buildings.

There are no reports yet as to when the sale will occur.
