Brutalist Reston Building May Become Future Home of Condos, Townhomes

34 townhomes and 10 condos are planned, one demolition and rezoning are required

Across from the Reston National Golf Course, there are plans to rezone a 4.6-acre project site from industrial to residential and then construct 34 townhomes and 10 condos. Reston Now reported that if developer Sekas Homes' plans are approved, a 48,200-square-foot building designed by Marcel Breuer will be razed. The Brutalist building previously served as the headquarters of the American Press Institute and has been vacant for several years.

Reston Now further reported that the planned townhomes would each be four stories tall. 12 percent will be designated for affordable housing with four set aside for workforce housing. Sekas Homes also plans on constructing a private street, surface parking, and an "active open space." By living in these properties, residents will be part of the Reston Association.
