Brookland Will Get a 1,441-Space Parking Garage

Finally, more parking for the area

With the Brookland neighborhood growing at a rapid pace with new housing and restaurants, it's finally time to find a way to make parking easier. Across from Catholic University of America at 818 Michigan Avenue NE, there are plans to build a new parking garage.

Currently, the site houses a truck repair shop, auto body shop, and an expansive area filled with old school buses. On an approximately four-acre parcel of vacant land, the planned four-level, 39.5-foot-high structure will house 1,441 spaces and total 355,893 square feet.

The garage will primarily serve as a leased parking garage for Children's National Hospital, according to documents at the Department of Energy & Environment.

The developers for the project are Douglas Development and Antunovich Associates.
