Walking in Georgetown can be uncomfortable due to how cramped the sidewalks are, but starting April 2, they will be widened every weekend. Through the fall, the Georgetown Business Improvement District (BID) will offer weekend sidewalk widenings for M Street NW from Wisconsin Avenue NW to 33rd street NW that will allow an extra eight feet of space for passersby. These widenings will be done with temporary barriers.
Along with this, the Georgetown BID will offer free northbound Union Station-Georgetown Circulator rides along Wisconsin Avenue NW from K Street stops.
At PMI’s 3307 M Street parking garage, a reduced parking rate ($6) will also be in effect during the same time that the sidewalks are widened.
These offerings will be available every Saturday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
