Trump’s Inauguration weekend, Women’s March set new hotel demand record
Between last Thursday and Friday night, there were a total of 189,547 rooms booked in the D.C. area. This is the most demand the area has seen since 2000. The hotel demand from this past weekend was up 7 percent from the previous high in 2009.

Historic inauguration photos discovered on eBay
Through eBay, the D.C. Council discovered a cache of 108-year-old photo negatives, depicting the inaugural parade of President William Howard Taft, the Wilson Building, and a blizzard that occurred in 1909. The photographer is unknown.

On average, hotels in D.C. cost $2,071 per night on January 20, according to Trivago. This weekend, Inauguration weekend, hotels are upping their prices by 927 percent. In January 2016, the average rate for a standard double room was $204.
