In case you missed it, we’re nearing the end of the Metro’s 40th birthday. As it settles toward the middle part of middle age (though it’s quite young, compared to Boston and London), it seems appropriate to celebrate its anniversary. Especially because its birth coincides with America’s bicentennial.
WMATA has done this with limited edition Metro Retro cards. Do you have one? Would you want one? While there are several available on their website, these are by the far the most retro standouts. Keep in mind that each card is $10 a pop, without any fare value. So you’d be investing in a collector’s item here.
