MGM National Harbor will open December 8

See what to expect from Prince George’s County’s gaming resort

The date of unveiling for the $1.4 billion MGM National Harbor has been revealed. The casino, hotel, spa, theater, retail, and restaurants will make their debut on Thursday, December 8. Already, the gaming resort is accepting room reservations for stays beginning December 10 with nightly room rates starting at $399 and suite rates beginning at $599.

When open, the resort will feature a total of 12 restaurants and an approximately 125,000-square-foot casino space with more than 3,300 slot machines. The 24-story hotel will offer 308 rooms, ranging from 400 to 3,210 square feet. MGM National Harbor also partnered with entertainment giant Live Nation for programming at "The Theater," a 3,000-seat venue expected to host A-list concerts, comedy shows, and more.

Other need-to-know highlights include that there will be 50,000 square feet of meeting space, a 16,200-square-foot grand ballroom, 6,000-square-foot terrace, and 18,000 square feet of retail space. The spa and salon will span 27,000 square feet with a fitness center adjacent to the space. The outdoor pool won’t open until the spring of 2017.

There will also be an iron gateway created by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan and several other artworks commissioned by renowned local and international sculptors, such as Margaret Boozer and Alice Aycock.
