Last week, developer CAS Riegler presented their plans to the Dupont Circle ANC for a two-unit residential development. If approved, the project will be constructed on a vacant lot at 1500 17th Street NW with a penthouse and basement.
Borderstan was the first to report that the ANC did support the plans, but that there were some design changes recommended for the project to fit in better with the neighborhood.
In its resolution, the ANC wrote, "The project as proposed feels somewhat out of place and has a very sharp—almost jarring—contrast into its historic context."
The developer will have to present their plans to the Historic Preservation Board before any construction can begin.
