In Tysons, New Town Center, Whole Foods, and Parks Planned

Near the Greensboro Metro station, there are plans to construct a brand new town center that will span 4.2 million-square-feet and 18-acres. The project, called The Boro, will feature Tyson's largest Whole Foods as well as multi-family and office buildings, multiple parks, and a six-story Showplace Icon multiplex, reported Washington Business Journal, who further reported that this is the among the largest efforts to transform Tysons into a less suburban community. It is also the largest development planned in the Greensboro Metro area. With a delivery slated for 2019, the project is expected to take at least two phases.

The 15-screen theater will deliver by 2018. The first phase will break ground this summer with plans to construct 1.7 million-square-feet of the project. Washington Business Journal further reported that this first phase will construct 800 residential units spread out in two buildings, a one-acre park, 400,000-square-feet of office space, and 223,000-square-feet of retail space. Owner of the site Bethesda-based The Meridian Group will also construct a full-size athletic field beside the Capital Beltway. The site was the former SAIC campus and is currently home to a surface parking lot and four office buildings. One of the office buildings, the Enterprise Building, will be razed.
