AIA|DC, Price Modern Announce Nationwide Design Competition

New, 1 comment

This year, the AIA|DC Emerging Architects Committee and national furniture solutions dealer Price Modern have partnered to initiate the first ever RE-Form Competition, a nationwide product design competition meant to challenge artists to bridge the boundaries of the design industry and promote a multidisciplinary dialogue towards design solutions.

The submission deadline is October 19. The competition is only open to designers within the U.S. and its territories. Submission costs vary depending on whether one is a student, AIA member, and associate/junior member of a professional organization ($25), a young professional who is not a member of a professional organization ($40), or a professional with over 10 years of experience ($100). The winners will be announced at a gala reception on November 12 at the D.C. District Architecture Center (DAC). All winning entries will be showcased online through Architecture Magazine and in person at the DAC's gallery space. The award prizes also include a trip to an ICFF show in new York City next May with Price Modern; tours of Poltrona Frau, Cappellini, and others; Haworth Collection furniture pieces; and a Haworth Collection/Poltrona Frau Group gift certificate for $3,000.

The jury features architect and Cappellini Art Director Giulio Cappellini, entrepreneur and founder of Big Bang Products Bryan Legette, architect and Gensler designer Ehren Gaag, designer at Nikkuu Design Melissa Moore, designer at Emeco & David Edward Nicole Runder, and WDG Interior Architecture Managing Principal Hiro Isogai. All submissions will be judged by the following criteria: compliance with submission requirements, creativity and innovation, contemporary relevance, aesthetic merit, constructability and suitability of design for intended use, and the student, young professional, and professional categories.
